My Tribe

November 28th, 2008

Earlier this year I had the good fortune of working with Ryan Clark and Matt Parry of Grubby Games on a game called My Tribe. It’s about a band of shipwrecked survivors building up their community on a desert island. Each person has his or her own characteristics and abilities, and all must pitch in! It’s a bit like Populous, or The Sims, but not, exactly!

Oh hey, why not try the free demo right now?

I did the logo and title screen painting, and a bunch of wood and stone GUI (Graphical User Interface) stuff. Other art (like the people, trees, and everything happening on the ground) was by Matt Parry, Mac Ko and Dennis Miller.

My Tribe is available now on the Grubby Games web site, and soon on casual games portals.

Did you know that Grubby Games’ The Amazing Brain Train was selected as one of the PAX10 this year? It absolutely was.

Fueled by Dieu

Spike has nominated Braid for Best Independent Game, alongside World of Goo, PixelJunk Eden, and Audiosurf.

If you’d like to vote for your favorite, go here.

There’s something about “fuel,” which I don’t really agree with.

Earlier this month, a Spike TV crew came to my apartment to shoot an interview which is going to run close to (or perhaps immediately before?) the awards. I’m told it will be part of a half-hour feature on indie games of 2008. The crew left a huge number of Capri Sun juice pouches and Odwalla bars in my fridge.
